Although by now Anna has seen several strange things and people, she couldn’t help a gasp of astonishment. There was nothing normal about the pocket wyssun. It had an upright pear-shaped fat body, small enough to fit into Anna’s palm, but heavy as lead.
The head was topped with a pair of widely set triangular, slightly translucent ears. Between the ears sat a single bright blue eye, framed by fluffy lashes. The creature had a tiny elephant trunk instead of a nose, and seemingly no mouth at all. It did, however, have a long rat-like tail, pink like its trunk, and tiny monkey paws.
“I never knew something can be cute and gross at the same time,” she muttered in awe.
